The project you will work in is funded by the Swedish Research Council and is titled “Personalising sonic interactions”. Today’s digital objects and processes produce information that is often invisible to the user, and sound can play a major role in making this information perceivable. In this context, our individual preferences in sound and music can affect the way we experience designed sonic interactions.
Based on our research on sound computing, sound design, and sonic interaction design, we will develop a systematic, evidence-based, approach to sonic interactions that takes advantage of personal sound preferences.
Your task, together with the team, will be to design, prototype, and develop sonic personalization design tools and use them to create three different sonic interaction designs deployed and studied in the domain of sustainable consumption.
The project benefits from a collaboration with two leading international scholars: Dr Nicolas Misdariis, IRCAM, Paris, and Prof Salomé Voegelin, University of the Arts London. You will be working at the Division of Media Technology and Interaction design (MID).

Target degree: Doctoral degree
Only those admitted to postgraduate education may be employed as a doctoral student. The total length of employment may not be longer than what corresponds to full-time doctoral education in four years ' time. An employed doctoral student can, to a limited extent (maximum 20%), perform certain tasks within their role, e.g. training and administration. A new position as a doctoral student is for a maximum of one year, and then the employment may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.
