We seek a candidate in the area of sustainability assessment and life cycle analysis for energy and industry systems. The candidate should have demonstrated expertise solving problems that include environmental, technical, economic, and policy issues, where traditional engineering approaches play an important role but cannot provide a complete answer. Candidates with experience in assessing how energy and industrial systems are likely to evolve will be given preference. Rigorous development and application of lifecycle and technoeconomic modeling is desirable. A solid engineering background is required with comprehensive knowledge of technologies that can address future energy and industry needs, as well as the decision-making process followed by various agents in the economy and public sector. The candidate is expected to use his/her expertise to evaluate various new energy, mobility, industry, and material technologies developed at KAUST.
Candidate will bring much needed expertise in application of lifecycle and technoeconomic analysis for assessing various energy and industry solutions developed at KAUST. Strong fit with activities ongoing in CCRC, KCC, KSC, ANPERC, and others.
About the PSE Division and KAUST
The Physical Science and Engineering Division comprises seven Degree Programs: Material Science and Engineering, Applied Physics, Earth Science and Engineering, Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Science, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. These disciplines provide the foundation for our Division's quest to address some of the major challenges that we face in the world today, including those related to energy and the environment. Specifically, our faculty members and their research teams work on topics as diverse as: photovoltaics, super capacitors, porous materials for carbon capture and membranes, clean combustion, atmospheric modeling, new polymers and composite for smart materials and structures.

Commitment to high-quality teaching at the graduate level, including two courses per academic year. Active service to KAUST on all aspects of academic life.

The successful applicant should have an established record of publishing high impact papers and is expected to create a thriving research program including engaging in national and international scientific collaborations.
This position serves as an important link between fundamental development and impact via translational activities. Externally sponsored projects are likely to be connected to key industries nationally and globally, with particular interest in oil & gas, petrochemical and mineral industries, as well as the whole energy value-chain.
