Position focus:
The research of the group is focused on atomic-level insight into essential and topical questions of biochemistry and molecular medicine. The candidate for the postdoctoral position should be able to carry out interdisciplinary projects to study the structural and dynamic properties of multi-domain proteins and their complexes. We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with extensive experience in the protein biochemistry and biophysical methods that are used for characterization of proteins and to study protein-protein interactions. The key experimental technique used and developed in the lab to tackle challenging macromolecular assemblies is the biomolecular nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Depending on their interests and skills, a candidate will have the opportunity to expand expertise in various biophysical methods relevant to state-of-the-art Integrated Structural Biology, with a particular emphasis on the solution, solid-state NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and molecular dynamics simulations.
-Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field
-Extensive experience in biological NMR
-Familiarity with the bacterial expression systems (E.coli) and purification of recombinant proteins
-Knowledge of biophysical methods and molecular biology techniques
-Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
-Effective judgment and problem solving with little or no supervision
-High level of motivation and commitment to academic research
-Additional experience in structural biology will be regarded as an advantage.
This application will require a cover letter and CV. Names and contact details for at least two references will also be requested.
In your cover letter, please specify the research area which interests you the most and in which you would like to work if you are accepted for the position.
Positions are available in the mid-fall of 2018.
