Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

At the Division of Clinical Epidemiology at the Institute of Medicine, Solna, we conduct high-quality epidemiological studies with a primary goal: to enhance patient care and deepen our understanding of health and disease. Our team is engaged in a diverse array of projects, each bringing unique challenges and opportunities. We foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing in a dynamic environment, offering you a vibrant and international research setting. Join us to contribute to top-tier research and make an impact on global health at the forefront of scientific discovery.

Your mission

We are seeking 1 postdoctoral researcher for an exciting project focused on maternal vaccination. This research aims to understand the safety and effectiveness of vaccines in preventing serious infections during pregnancy and early infancy, as well as to explore the factors that influence women's acceptance or hesitancy to vaccinate during pregnancy. The project includes both registry-based epidemiological studies and qualitative interview studies.

Our long-term goal is to provide insights that will build public trust in vaccines, drive targeted interventions to increase vaccination uptake during pregnancy, and ultimately reduce disease burden across society.

Key responsibilities at the postdoctoral level include project design, data collection, statistical and qualitative analysis, and the preparation of scientific articles and grant applications. You will also lead your own research projects, develop research questions, and conduct comprehensive qualitative and epidemiological studies from start to finish, in collaboration with the principal investigator, other researchers, clinicians, students, and patient partners.

This position is a two-year contract with the possibility of extension, offering you the chance to make a real impact in a highly collaborative and supportive research environment.

Your profile

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is dedicated to advancing knowledge on vaccination during pregnancy, passionate about women’s and children’s health, and who loves learning new things and sharing knowledge. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in qualitative and epidemiological study design, as well as in using administrative health data, such as Swedish registers. They should have a background in qualitative and/or epidemiological methods, with skills in thematic and content analysis for qualitative research and/or programming (SAS, R, or STATA) for data management and statistical analysis.

You should be detail-oriented, have high standards for your work, and possess strong organizational skills. The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to complete projects and publish their work. The primary working language is English, but proficiency in Swedish is an advantage, as the role may involve conducting in-depth interviews with Swedish-speaking study participants.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
