The research at the division of Cardiology ranges from basic research at molecular and cellular level to translational and clinical studies.
Specifically, our research team aims to reveal the disease mechanisms underlying ascending aortic aneurysmal disease and aortic valve disease. A unique in its kind clinical cohort and biobank has been built in close collaboration with the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit, Karolinska University Hospital Solna, enablig patient-specific phenotyping and true translational research. Our research also involves molecular mechanisms of mitral valve disease and multiple valve disease. We integrate molecular cell biology, multiomic analysis, epidemiology, and genetics to unravel disease pathogenesis, with several national as well as international collaborators.
