Description

We are now recruiting a senior lecturer in psychology (clinical psychology with specialisation in psychodynamics). The discipline of psychology with its more than 30 staff members forms part of the Department of Social and Psychological Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The department further includes gender studies, social work and sociology.

Psychology is offered at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level. In October 2014, the discipline was given degree-awarding powers for a Master of Science in Psychology degree, and the programme has been offered since the autumn semester of 2015. In addition to the programme courses, we also offer subject courses in psychology at undergraduate and master’s level. Since the start of 2006, we have also been offering a doctoral programme in psychology.

Duties

Work duties are mainly in the areas of clinical psychology with specialisation in psychodynamic therapy, but the position also involves duties pertaining to other areas of psychology, for example developmental psychology, personality psychology and investigative methodologies. The position mainly involves teaching and supervision of students on the Master of Science in Psychology programme, but may also include teaching other subject courses, commissioned courses and doctoral courses. Teaching may be offered in Swedish and English. The position involves teaching, supervision, examination, course coordination and course development, as well as active participation in the developmental work done by the discipline and the department concerning teaching, research and community cooperation. The position is based in Karlstad and the successful applicant is expected to participate in the daily work at Karlstad University.

Qualification requirements

The eligibility requirements are a doctor’s degree in psychology or equivalent academic qualifications. The successful applicant also has to be a licenced psychologist with psychotherapeutic skills in the area of psychodynamic therapy. In addition, documented teaching skills and a completed course in teaching and learning in higher education are required. In special circumstances, this course may be completed within two years of employment as part of the professional development commitment.

Assessment criteria

Special weight is given to applicants’ experience of clinical experience as a psychologist with specialisation in evidence-based psychodynamic therapy.

Considerable weight is given to applicants’ documented experience of cooperation, particularly in cooperating with the community. Considerable weight is further given to oral and written communication skills in Swedich and English.

Weight is given to applicants who are licenced psychologists with specialisation in psychodynamics, as well as to a specialist qualification in therapy. Completed training in supervision in the area psychotherapy is also given weight, as is experience of teaching on a Master of Science in Psychology programme.

Equal weight is given to research and teaching skills.

Terms of employment

This is a full-time, non-fixed-term position with starting date at the earliest convenience. A probationary period may be required.
