This work is related to the BeforeHand H2020 project that aims to implement SbTe-GeTe superlattices as the key phase change material within a non-volatile memory (phase change RAM).
Some work is devoted to the thermal characterization of the materials (the PCM mainly) and some other work to the theoretical prediction of those properties. The post-doc will be dedicated to this theoretical work using the molecular dynamics tool. Additional information (regarding the potentials to be used) will be extracted from ab-initio (DFT) calculations performed at the UMB with the team of Pr. Marco Bernasconi. Another aspect of the Post-Doc work aims to simulate the memory device by implementing an atomic-to-continuum method that will involve also the electronic behavior.
Duration of the Post-Doc is one year, possibly extendable from another year
Required knowledge: heat transfer, phonons and electrons, molecular dynamics, thermal properties calculations from EMD (Green Kubo) and NEMD (Muller Plathe and others).
Optional knowledge: atomic-to-continuum methods, finite element method
