The position is to be filled within the Energy and Environment Teaching, Research, and Innovation Center (CERI EE). In addition to about sixty doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, this center includes 31 teacher-researchers, 13.5 engineers and technicians, 2 administrative assistants. It is currently organized into two research domains: Atmospheric Sciences and Energy Efficiency of Components, Systems and Processes. CERI EE also has an instrumental technical center and several national and international centers of expertise.
IMT Nord Europe wishes to strengthen the skills of CERI EE, within the Energy, Fluids and Transfers team.
The candidate will join this research team, which focuses on intensifying transfer phenomena in thermo-fluidic components at various scales. The targeted applications are in the fields of energy and process engineering, especially for society decarbonization purposes. Experimental and numerical approaches are concurrently employed to improve energy efficiency at the component, energy system, or process scale. This generally requires enhancing performance by means of flow control, use of rheological behavior of complex fluids, surface structuring, and, if applicable, transfers in solid parts.
Under the authority of the Director of the Energy and Environment CERI (Teaching, Research, and Innovation Center), the position holder will actively participate in both teaching activities and the development of research and technology transfer projects within the Energy, Fluids and Transfers team.
The position holder must have expertise in the fields of Energy Engineering, Thermal Engineering and/or Process Engineering and/or Fluid Mechanics both fundamental and practical, enabling him/her to be involved at various levels in the teaching activities.
Specifically, he/she will:
The main mission of the position holder is to undertake developments related to the research team's activities. Specifically, he/she will:
The candidate must have recognized scientific and technical skills to successfully carry out the aforementioned missions.
He/she has developed strong expertise in the use or development of tools and methods for modeling transfer phenomena (thermal, mass, momentum, etc.) involved in thermo-fluidic components and processes. Multiphysical and/or multiphase aspects will be highly valued.
Extensive experience in optimization methods will be a strong asset, and skills in experimental methods will also be appreciated.
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in the fields of Energy Engineering, Process Engineering or Fluid Mechanics. The position is suitable for a candidate interested in teaching and research focused on the optimization of thermo-fluidic components and processes for innovation purposes.
Postdoctoral experience and project management experience will be greatly appreciated.
