The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies / Leibniz-Institut für Globale und Regionale Studien is an independent social science research institute based in Hamburg. Applications are invited for a 75% position, with a contract of 36 months starting on 1 September 2019. The position is designed for further professional qualification as defined in § 2 WissZeitVG (Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act). The salary is commensurate with TV-AVH / TVöD EG 13.
The successful candidate will work in a project that provides scientific support to and research on the impacts of the “Special Initiative Education and Employment”, a policy initiative of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. This initiative aims at supporting the creation of productive employment, in particular in North and West Africa, through various programs and interventions including employment-oriented education and vocational training as well as investment promotion.
The three-year project will analyze and evaluate the impacts of key representative interventions of the Special Initiative. We seek a candidate who is interested in investigating with us the impacts of interventions on the success of (foreign) investment projects in terms of their implementation, the mobilization of foreign and domestic capital and the creation of employment (and its quality).
