The research lab headed by prof. Sophia Maschalidi focuses on phagocytosis during skin injury and repair. The current LEO-funded project aims to explore the importance of boosting phagocytosis during primary skin injury repair and at subsequent challenges.

We are looking for a motivated candidate with strong expertise in cell biology/immunology and biochemistry. Expertise in epigenetics and imaging is a plus. You will join a team currently consisting of highly motivated PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, one bio-informatician and technicians with whom you will work in close collaboration.

YOUR TASKS

  • You will systematically address the diverse and dynamic transcriptome, interactome and epigenome of phagocytic and neighboring cells in the skin, at the native environment where the phagocytosis takes place.
  • You will be involved in research activities in both wet and dry labs.
  • You will collaborate with other internal and external groups.
  • You will guide Master students in this project.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • PhD in biochemistry/biotechnology, biomedical sciences, cell biology, bio-engineering, or related disciplines
  • A strong expertise in in cell biology/immunology and biochemistry.
  • Expertise in epigenetics and imaging is a plus.
  • Keen interest in immunology.
  • Experience in working with mouse models (FELASA equivalent level required).
  • You have excellent English communication skills (both oral and written).
  • You are a talented and enthusiastic researcher, who is seriously motivated and has a sense for high professional standards.
  • You independently and accurately plan and conduct experiments.
  • You can function well in a team as you will be integrated into the international collaborative research environment.
