YOUR TASKS
- At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research
- You will assist in teaching activities at the Master’s level
- You will counsel Master’s students in their seminars, exercises, and Master’s dissertation
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a doctoral degree in Political and/or Social Sciences. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
- You have already conducted research within the field of the political economy of the Middle East and North Africa. You have field experience (fieldwork) in the region.
- You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate
- You have teaching experience
- You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programmes
- You are familiar with digital educational tools (e.g. learning paths on digital learning platforms, etc.)
- You have an excellent knowledge of the English language (oral and written). Knowledge of the Dutch language is highly recommended.
- You may present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a temporary appointment (for 30%) for a period of 1 year. The appointment cannot be renewed
- You will support and assist in coordinating the course “Politics in the Middle East and North Africa” (1st semester).
- Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term
- Your appointment will start on 2 September 2024 at the earliest
- Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5. More information about our salary scales
