YOUR JOB

  • You will conduct doctoral research in the field of cancer immunotherapy and immunogenic cancer cell death and will develop a novel and more efficient glioma therapy based on dendritic cell vaccines at the Cell Death Investigation and Therapy (CDIT) Laboratory within the Department of Human Structure and Repair at Ghent University, under the supervision of Prof. dr. Dmitri V. Krysko.

  • The work will involve making use of cutting edge methods including CRISPR-Cas9 technology, multi-colour flow cytometry, analysis of gene and protein expression, denritic cell vaccines, ortotopic intracranial glioma mice models
  • You apply for a FWO aspirant scholarship after the initial phase
  • You publish and communicate about your research
  • At the end of the doctoral trajectory you obtain a doctoral degree (PhD)

  • You hold a Master's degree in Biomedical Science; Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Medicine, Bioscience Engineering: Cell and Gene Biotechnology; or an equivalent qualification. The diploma requirement must be met by the date of appointment.
  • You are eager to learn and driven to work in vivo on sophisticated glioma mice models
  • You prefer open communication and you love collaboration
  • You can work independently and in the team
  • Publications, posters, presentations at the international scientific conferences and public talks are recommended

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer a full-time position as a doctoral fellow (PhD student), consisting of an initial period of 12 months, which - after a positive evaluation, will be extended to a total maximum of 48 months.
  • Your contract will start on November 1, 2024 at the earliest.
  • The fellowship amount is 100% of the net salary of an AAP member in equal family circumstances. The individual fellowship amount is determined by the Department of Personnel and Organization based on family status and seniority. A grant that meets the conditions and criteria of the regulations for doctoral fellowships is considered free of personal income tax. Click here for more information about our salary scales
