We have one funded doctoral position (4 years) immediately available in the Laval lab.
Based on exciting recent data and using the pig as a model, this project aims to examine how peripheral viral infections may trigger a rapid neuroinflammatory response in the peripheral and central nervous system (PNS/CNS) with long-term consequences (e.g., neurodegeneration) in the brain. This project is part of a Geconcerteerde Onderzoek Actie (GOA) project awarded to the lab by Ghent University. During his/her PhD, the applicant will also be invited to submit applications for additional funding opportunities (e.g., FWO PhD fellowship). The Laval lab is located in a dynamic and multidisciplinary work environment at the faculty of veterinary medicine, campus Merelbeke that shares a collaborative and international culture. Working language is English.
