                          The Director of the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass 

                                                      of Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín

in accordance with the Law 131/2002 on Higher Education, the Law 552/2003 on the work in public interest and in accordance with the principles of selection process of university teachers, researchers, and chief officers of TnUAD 
announces recruitment process for the work position:

1 work position - Postdoctoral research associate at the Biomaterials department of the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glasses 

There is immediate opening for position of postdoctoral research associate in the established Centre for functional and surface functionalized glasses at the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia, funded from the H2020 framework program project. The appointment is for at least two years with possible extension of the contract dependent upon research progress and quality of the scientific outputs. Position is open immediately upon completion of recruitment process and later start is negotiable. Salary will be commensurate with experience, training, and qualifications, in line with the rules of the European Commission on personal costs in the frame of the H2020 projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • PhD (doctoral degree) in Biomaterials, Biology, Chemistry, Material Science,
  • Specialization: Microbiology, Biomaterials, Chemistry, Inorganic non-metallic materials, Organic chemistry.
  • Experience in biomaterials, cell viability analysis, antibacterial testing, glass, or polymer science especially in bio glass, development, and characterization of inorganic (glass, bio glass) materials
  • Experience with biological testing, analysing techniques like XRD, SEM/EDX, FTIR, bioactivity, in vitro testing of the materials
  • Good command of English

The position involves:

  • Fundamental and applied research in biomaterials, especially bioactive glass and biopolymer processing and characterization, in line with the areas of research defined in the project application,
  • Active searching for research funding for the research programmes pursued in the centre,
  • Research collaboration with industrial partners,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment,
  • Publish research results and give presentations at scientific meetings,
  • Written and oral communication, preparation and management of research proposals, research papers and scientific reports, analysis, and investigation of scientific problems.

There is immediate opening for position of postdoctoral research associate in the established Centre for functional and surface functionalized glasses at the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia, funded from the H2020 framework program project. The appointment is for at least two years with possible extension of the contract dependent upon research progress and quality of the scientific outputs. Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicants should have a PhD (doctoral degree) in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering; PhD title already awarded or expected before contract of employment.
  • Specialization: Chemistry, Material Science, Materials Engineering, Inorganic non-metallic materials.
  • Experience in glass science including synthesis, processing, development and characterization of inorganic (glass and glass-ceramic) materials.
  • Excellent manufacturing experience in Additive Manufacturing technology (FDM, SLA, DIW), CAD software, design and development of novel glass and glass-ceramics materials in 3D structures for various applications.
  • Excellent English written and communication skills.

The position involves:

  • Active searching for research funding for the research programmes pursued in the centre,
  • Research collaboration with industrial partners,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment,

  • Written and oral communication, preparation and management of research proposals, research papers and scientific reports, analysis, and investigation of scientific problems.

The appointment is for at least two years with possible extension of the contract dependent upon research progress and quality of the scientific outputs. Positions are open immediately upon completion of recruitment process and later start is negotiable.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Applicants must have a PhD (doctoral degree) in Chemistry, Material Science and Engineering.
  • Specialization: Chemistry, Material Science, Materials Engineering, Inorganic non-metallic materials.
  • Experience in glass and glass ceramic science including synthesis, processing, development and characterization of inorganic (glass and glass ceramic) materials and surface functionalized materials with luminescence properties.
  • Materials characterization techniques hand-on experience is advantage.
  • Previous experience with hot-press and SPS techniques.
  • Good command of English

The position involves:

  • Fundamental and applied research in the area of glass and glass ceramic processing and characterization, in line with the areas of research defined in the project application.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent team working skills, self-motivation, initiative and persistence.
  • Publish research results and give presentations at scientific meetings.
  • Written and oral communication, preparation and management of research proposals, research papers and scientific reports, analysis and investigation of scientific problems.
