Description of the research activity:
Integrative AI is considered one of the most promising approaches to realise future Artificial Intelligence systems able to produce trustworthy predictive models. Indeed it combines the effectiveness of Machine Learning approahces with the transparency of Logic-based systems. Integrative AI architectures have been investigated for a number of domains (e.g., in computer vision) but are not deeply investigated in the construction of predictive models for temporal event data. To achieve this, the applicant will work on two tasks. First, the definition of novel integrative AI techniques for the training of predictive models for temporal event data using temporal background knowledge. This investigation will start from recent worksthat aim to combine Deterministic Finite Automata (DFAs) with numeric approahes such as generic algorithms of Recurrent Neural Netoworks. Second, the implementation of the developed technique and an assessment of the feasibility of the approach.
