Research Associate (f/m) for the Simulation of the Installation of Offshore Wind Farms

FRAUNHOFER INSTITUTE FOR WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS IWES

FH-yes1

DO YOU WANT TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF WIND ENERGY? IS OFFSHORE WIND ENERGY YOUR PASSION? THEN, WE, THE FRAUNHOFER INSTITUTE FOR WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS IWES, OFFER YOU AN EXCITING POSITION IN BREMERHAVEN AS A

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (F/M)
FOR THE SIMULATION OF THE INSTALLATION OF OFFSHORE WIND FARMS

Who we are...
Wind energy is our primary focus. Our institute is home to more than 250 employees and students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development. We achieve this with a combination of an internationally unique testing infrastructure and extensive methods expertise in the fields of the reliability and validation of wind turbines.

The duties awaiting you...
You will handle the project planning of offshore wind farms. You will take weather influences on a time series basis as well as other risks into consideration. Together with your colleagues, you will develop and implement innovative methods for the analysis and evaluation of different strategies for the construction of offshore wind farms. Your day-to-day work is very varied. You research to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field and, at the same time, are involved in different research and industry projects, compile project reports (yes, we also have to do that), and submit research applications.

Our strength lies in our cooperation.
We help each other, share our knowledge, and offer each other mutual support, even if the tasks in question are not our own. We all work together closely, irrespective of our backgrounds, to be able to consider all aspects in the projects.

Where do you see yourself?
Would you rather head up projects and build on your existing project management expertise or explore a specific issue in greater detail? We help you to find the right career path for you and support you in every step of the way.

Do you have a graduate degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline?
Are you familiar with the simulation of complex processes and their implementation using programming technology? Have you already accumulated expertise in the fields of software development, logistics, installation processes, or offshore wind energy? Then please continue reading. It would also be great if you have already developed models and methods and implemented them in practice. Perhaps, you have already worked in the field of applied research and development? You present your results to your team, customers, and the academic community – and you can do so with ease in both English and German. And if you are interested in earning a doctorate, we create the opportunities for you and offer you the necessary support and assistance!

Is your work-life balance very important to you?
We have a flextime and core time system which allows you to be flexible.

Further information on the IWES and the different aspects of our wind energy research is available on our website: www.iwes.fraunhofer.de

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited for 3 years.

In case of identical qualifications, preference will be given to severely disabled candidates. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is committed to providing equal career opportunities for men and women.

Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. Our research efforts are geared entirely to people’s needs: health, security, communication, energy and the environment. As a result, the work undertaken by our researchers and developers has a significant impact on people’s lives. We are creative. We shape technology. We design products. We improve methods and techniques. We open up new vistas.
