Achieving a greenhouse gas-neutral energy supply is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. At the Institute of Energy and Climate Research – Techno-Economic Systems Analysis (IEK-3) – we use integrated models to explore how possible cost-effective transformation strategies must be designed to achieve this. Become part of our international research team and contribute your ideas and creativity on how a future global greenhouse gas neutral energy system could look like.

To support the transformation of the global energy system, orientation knowledge for politics, industry, and society is needed. Help us to further develop open source decision support models for the energy transition and, thus, generate new insights.
Your main area of responsibility will be the modeling of the global energy transition using the FINE model framework (https://github.com/FZJ-IEK3-VSA/FINE). Thereby, there is a large scope to determine the exact research direction in joint consultation. In addition, you will be expected to support project management and acquisition tasks.
Do you find this topic exciting and enjoy modeling and analyzing energy systems? Do you have innovative ideas that can contribute to the success of the energy transition? Then please apply! We welcome committed new colleagues who want to find solutions for the energy transition together with us and offer you the best conditions for your successful scientific career:
We offer you an exciting and varied role in an international and interdisciplinary working environment. The position is initially for a fixed term of two years, with possible long-term prospects.
