As Technology Program Manager, you are at the helm of a research cluster, which is made up of 3 to 6 selected research groups (labs) of the Flemish universities, supplemented by an internal group of researchers. Cooperation across institutions is our guiding principle. This enables us to speak with one voice in our contacts with companies.

Your "Production" cluster focuses on Industry 4.0 production systems for manufacturing companies with production/assembly activities. Interconnected transport systems and production machines, flexible work cells and production lines, human-robot cooperation and technological operator support are some of the important items on the agenda.

Steer our research to drive and accelerate innovation in the industry in Flanders.

As Technology Program Manager, you steer the development of the research capabilities within the "Production" cluster and align these capabilities with the research needs of companies. This alignment of today's and tomorrow's needs with innovation and research capabilities is very important for creating impact in industrial companies.

For this you will:

  • Develop a clear collective research ambition;
  • Translate strategic choices into an ambitious research roadmap;
  • Convert this roadmap into a balanced implementation portfolio of research and innovation projects and continue to optimise this portfolio for future challenges;
  • Coach, inspire and steer managers of research groups (labs) at the universities and within Flanders Make vzw;
  • Monitor the objectives of the roadmap in the definition and implementation of projects;
  • Facilitate, accelerate and optimise developments in technology & methodology; fulfil our role as initiator and leader in research and innovation for industrial production and, finally, fulfil our role as reliable partner for companies in building their "factory of the future";
  • Build a close relationship with a consortium of companies and their representatives working on production process optimisations; deduce research challenges from the actual industrial reality;
  • Search for opportunities to create synergies between the clusters.
  • You will work from one of our establishments in Kortrijk, Lommel or Leuven (flexible workplace policy).

"In this job, you – indirectly – determine the direction to be taken in our complex business area. You don’t work for just one company, but for all companies. Thanks to that indirect leadership, you have a huge impact. You are at the helm of the research that we will perform.”

“Which projects should we prioritise, which problems will we take on...", these are typically the things that you will steer. You are the bridge between companies on the one hand and research institutions on the other. Read more
