Postdoctoral Researcher in Light-Driven CO2 Capture

The Electrochemical Energy Systems Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position focused on light-driven CO2 capture.

Job description

Our group is actively developing a novel photoacid-based approach for efficient CO2 capture, optimizing both the local chemical environment in photoacids and their molecular structure to enhance sorption capacity and stability. We seek a postdoctoral researcher who will contribute to these efforts.

You will join a diverse, inclusive, and supportive work environment that values scientific curiosity and creativity. This is a full-time position, tentatively starting on February 1, 2025, or later. Profile

We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Organic synthesis
  • Photochemistry
  • Advanced characterization techniques (e.g., synchrotron facilities, in-situ methods)
  • CO2 capture / utilization (a plus)

We are looking for highly motivated researchers with a passion for contributing to solutions in the global energy landscape. If you excel in collaborative environments and can bring expertise in some of the areas listed above, we encourage you to apply.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field
  • Experience with in situ spectroscopy is a plus
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and strong teamwork skills
