The Biotechnology and Bioengineering group, directed by Prof. Martin Fussenegger at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of the ETH Zurich in Basel, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to develop preclinical RNA-based treatment strategies.
The D-BSSE is an interdisciplinary research department of the ETH Zurich where theory, experimental biology and engineering groups team up to foster advances in Systems Biology, Biotechnology and Synthetic Biology. D-BSSE is situated in the heart of the BioValley, the leading life science cluster in Europe, including several pharma giants and numerous start-ups. The D-BSSE is situated in a brand-new building next to the University Hospitals and the Biozentrum. State-of-the-art research facilities, like a GMP laboratory, will provide a unique environment for high-leverage translational research.
The group uses state-of-the-art Synthetic Biology principles to engineer human cells and develop cell-based therapies for the treatment of cancer as well as metabolic, neurodegenerative, autoimmune and infectious diseases. Extensive expertise with a vast range of drug delivery vehicles, gene switches as well as therapeutic assays in mouse models is available.
The mission is to establish pre-clinical “proof of concept” RNA-based treatment strategies including but not limited to RNA controllers and RNA sensor-effector devices to program cellular behavior.
The successful candidate is exceptionally motivated and highly skilled to drive the design and implementation of pre-clinical proof-of-concept studies. S/he has profound expertise in molecular biology, material science, chemical biology or drug delivery. Holding an LTK1 or FELASA B certificate is a plus. We expect an outstanding publication record as well as the ambition to pursue and acadmic career or initiate start-up activities.
ETH Zurich is a family-friendly employer with excellent working conditions. You can look forward to an exciting working environment, cultural diversity and attractive offers and benefits.
