Research Technician

The Professorship of Genome Biology develops and uses next-generation genome editing and regulation technologies for both fundamental biological discovery and to create potential therapies for human genetic diseases. To support the laboratory’s research operations, we are seeking a
Research Technician
The Professor of Genome Biology is part of the D-BIOL Institute of Molecular Health Sciences at the ETH Zurich (Hönggerberg Campus). The laboratory works in a fast-moving field with global exposure, so applicants should be excited for a dynamic environment.
This position will support research activities that contribute to projects spanning diverse areas. Especially motivated and talented individuals will also have the opportunity to drive independent research projects. A significant percent effort will be dedicated to preparing and performing various experiments. The position will also be responsible for managing aspects of day-to-day lab operations such as general lab organization and lab safety compliance. This position will report directly to the Professor of Genome Biology but will work most closely with senior scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students in the laboratory.
A Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Human Genetics, or related field is required by the start date. Applicants with higher degrees will be considered favorably as appropriate. At the time of application, the basic minimum qualification is the completion of all degree requirements except the dissertation, with experience in Genomics and Molecular Biology. The candidate must have hands-on experience with modern molecular biology techniques such as cloning, bacterial transformation and Sanger sequencing.
Preferred qualifications are hands-on experience in with human cell biology/biochemistry techniques, such as Western blotting, human cell culture and transfection, flow cytometry, and lentiviral transduction. Experience with CRISPR genome editing will be highly valued.
