The Otto Diels Institute of Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Kiel University, Germany, invites applications for a

W3 (Full)-Professorship

to start April 1, 2024.

The “Christian-Albrechts-Universität”, with its unique location on the Kiel Fjord, is the only full university in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. With its more than 350-year history, it is embedded in an outstanding research environment in which this advertised key professorship in Organic Chemistry is in demand as an innovative force in inter- and transdisciplinary collaborations.

We are looking for an internationally recognized scientist with leadership experience and outstanding achievements in a current field of experimental organic chemistry to complement the existing research at the Otto Diels Institute and to strengthen the Chemistry Section with its three foci, Functional Nanomaterials, Biosystems and Energy. Our research environment is further diversified by various clusters of excellence, research networks and non-university research institutes, such as the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology, the Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel (GEOMAR) and the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN). We expect the appointee to be actively engaged in the Kiel research landscape and to network with existing research foci, such as Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science (KiNSIS), Kiel Life Science (KLS) or Kiel Marine Science (KMS).

The successful candidate will represent the field of Organic Chemistry in research and teaching and will participate in the Institute's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs as required by the current teaching obligation regulation at universities (LVVO) of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Teaching experience and the willingness to teach courses in German and English are expected. The ideal candidate has demonstrated interdisciplinary, collaborative expertise and proven ability to attract competitive external research funding. Experience in academic self-administration is desirable. For further information about the vacant position and the research unit, please contact Prof.in Dr. Thisbe K. Lindhorst (tklind@oc.uni-kiel.de).

Please refer to the recruitment requirements of § 61 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Schleswig-Holstein. More information can be found at www.berufungen.uni-kiel.de (in German).

Please provide private and business addresses, telephone number and e-mail address. The application should be submitted by 08.12.2022, preferably in electronic form as one(!)
