PhD Scholarship in Mixed-signal IC Design for Sensor System in Robotics

A fully-funded PhD student (Junior Researcher) position in the area of integrated circuits and robotic sensor system in Group of ISCD at CUAS is available.

Project description:

The project undertakes advanced research to develop a modular human robot work cell, where a human can collaborate and interact with the robot in a safe and intuitive way for Industry 4.0 manufacturing. As novel microsystems are key enabling technologies with applications in Robotics, this PhD work will investigate and implement a novel smart-sensing integrated circuit interface, to improve performance of proximity sensing and gesture recognition in a real-time human-robot working environment. This is an excellent opportunity for student to (1) Work with experts in the robotics, on a novel sensing system with strong links to industrial robotic applications. (2) Acquire key skills and knowledge in preparation for a high-impact, advanced research or industrial career.

Requirement:

  • Master’s degree in electronics or electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • The applicants should ideally have a strong background/knowledge in advanced integrated circuit design in Cadence environment and PCB board system along with excellent experimental skills. Experience with capacitive sensor system is also an advantage.
  • The candidate will be expected to conduct work with industrial partners and should have good interpersonal skills. Fluent in English is required.

Salary: EUR 2.700,00 (gross monthly, fulltime)
