Ca’ Foscari is looking for a Full Professor of Anglo-American languages and literatures with a cutting-edge research profile. The researcher should also have a strong commitment to teaching new generations of students so that they can become game-changers in their own fields and make a difference in the world.
Teaching duties and research:
The Professor will be involved in frontal teaching activities for a minimum of 120 hours about Anglo-American languages and literatures in Bachelor, Master and PhD programs, in accordance with the provisions of the Department.
The candidate will have to demonstrate a long-standing experience in teaching Anglo-American literature and culture. The candidate will have to demonstrate a solid knowledge of Anglo-American literary history and of the critical and narratological interpretations on the texts that constitute its canons with a special focus on narrative, through monographs, critical editions, essays, participation and organization of conferences and participation in editorial boards.
The candidate will have to contribute to the consolidation and development of research in the areas of Anglo-American Languages and Literatures referring to literary and cultural aspects of Anglo-America with a special attention on the adaptation of European theoretical vocabularies and critical methodologies to the intrinsically dynamic Anglo-American context, with particular attention to America.
The position will be hosted in the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies. The Department has recently received a “Department of Excellence” Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the Department to Develop state of the art laboratory facilities to pursue the theoretical and empirical study of linguistic and cultural diversity.
The Department is unique in its multidisciplinary approach to language, literature and culture, with fertile exchanges between linguistic, literary, historical and political approaches and an international outlook essential to a critical understanding of global society.
The Department actively pursues internationalization, activating joint programmes, Erasmus exchange periods, internships abroad, encouraging publication in international journals and inviting many Visiting Scholars and Professors.
