Tenure track position in the rank of assistant, associate or full professor for Medical Imaging Sciences (MIS) Program

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the American University of Beirut, located in Beirut, Lebanon currently seeks for its Medical Imaging Sciences (MIS) Program a candidate with a PhD in Medical Imaging Sciences/Radiography, for a tenure track position in the rank of assistant, associate or full professor depending on qualifications. Visiting positions at all levels may be considered.

The MIS Program, hosted by the Division of Health Professions at FHS, is a joint program with the Faculty of Medicine and one of only a few well-established undergraduate programs in the region. During the first year of study, students take basic science and elective courses. In the second and third year, students learn in-depth theory and application in sub-specialized fields within medical imaging sciences such as medical imaging physics, cross-sectional anatomy and radiographic pathology. Courses are designed and timed to work in parallel with clinical training at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). The program enrolls approximately 15 new students each year.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: medical imaging physics (radiation, radiobiology, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, radiation therapy and nuclear imaging), cross-sectional anatomy, radiographic pathology, medical imaging processing
• Clinical teaching experience
• Clinical experience as a radiographer is recommended.
• Research agenda based on published works and/or external funding
• Evidence of involvement with professional associations and organizations

Teaching responsibilities include: delivering basic and advanced courses in medical imaging to undergraduate students in the field of medical imaging physics, anatomy, and radiographic pathology as well as supervising students during their practicum work and their final year research project. The successful candidate will also contribute to research and service at FHS.

FHS was established in 1954 as the first school of public health in the Arab world. At the undergraduate level, FHS offers a BA in Health Communication, BS in Environmental Health (EH), Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS), and Medical Imaging Sciences (MIS). MLS and MIS are interdisciplinary programs offered by the Division of Health Professions, which is coordinated jointly by FHS and Faculty of Medicine (FM). The Graduate Public Health Program (GPHP) at FHS is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and includes the Master of Public Health with three different concentrations, and a Master of Science in Epidemiology. FHS also offers an MS in Environmental Sciences-major Environmental Health, an Executive Master in Health Care Leadership (EMHCL), and a PhD in Epidemiology in addition to two joint programs with FM (MS in Clinical Research) and the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (MS in Public Health Nutrition).
